One essential element of extreme community is providing the benefits of experience across boundaries. This could happen between Marin, my home county in California, USA, and the city of San Francisco

Marin has been developing Marin Clean Energy, under the auspices of the Marin Energy Authority. This is a proposal to buy renewable power collectively for all but 3 cities and towns in the county, who voted to opt out of the plan.

Charles McGlashan is the Marin Supervisor from my district. He’s green and committed to lowering the carbon footprint of the county. He met with San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi last week.

“We’ve just begun a process of exploring how we might work together,” McGlashan said. “They’re a little further behind, but it’s certainly worth exploring how we might support one another as we go through this,”

This should really be happening among all Bay Area counties, though PG&E is sure to fight the idea.
