I’m Cliff Figallo and I am responsible, though this is not really a new idea. Through many years I’ve lived in and supported myself by adapting to what most people would agree were extreme forms of community.
This is a relationship-based practice. Until the relationships are attended to – the agreements and priorities settled to a sufficient degree – the real work of the community cannot proceed. I’ve logged over 20 years in what I call versions 1.x and 2.x of XC.

I’ve tried to learn-by-doing in these experimental social environments. I don’t know for sure if a version XC 3.0 will transform the way we live and cooperate with our residential neighbors. I do know that there’s lots of room for improvement in how members of local communities communicate and collaborate. I’m incurably curious about how communities work – literally. When they are working, they are a joy to be a part of. Getting them to work is a challenging exercise for the social animal.
This site is set up intentionally to support conversation, so I hope we’ll soon create a growing stream of commentary.

Thanks for sharing your vision at the Hub today, Cliff! I think you’ll find a lot of aligned movements and fellow travelers out there to join in sharing best practices and making community easier to join and build and grow, building networks of trusted relationships through practice and training.
